Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to register first before submitting a project?
Yes, please fill out the registration form HERE as a prerequisite for participating in the hackathon. If you are part of a team, each individual team member’s details must be included in the form before submission.
The project submission portal will go live one week before the hackathon start date. In order to be eligible for any prizes, teams must complete the project submission before the deadline. Only one submission allowed per team.
Is this hackathon only for new projects, and who is eligible to win?
This hackathon is for new projects that haven’t raised outside capital. It is not intended for established projects who have been building the same product for years and have already raised venture funding. Projects cannot have started development more than 3 months before the commencement of the hackathon. Projects will only be judged on the code and work produced between the start and end dates of the hackathon. This rule does not mean that if you previously built an unrelated product and raised funding that you’re ineligible. If you’re an entrepreneur or developer building a new product that you haven’t raised funding for yet, then you may compete and be eligible to win. Builders may use any pre-existing code in project submissions only after they have notified the organizing team about the nature of their previous work and have received approval. Project teams are also required to disclose all relevant information in the submission form. If, upon inspection, a project team is found to have completed substantial work before 3 months prior to the hackathon (without approval), the organizers retain the sole right to disqualify the project from the competition, and/or revoke prizes if applicable.
Note: “Pre-existing code” does not refer to open-source code developed previously by others. In fact, we encourage project founders to compose with existing Solana protocols.
Where can I access developer resources?
Check out the Developer Resources page. This resource hub has all the documentation, tools, tutorials, and content needed to launch a product using PYUSD on Solana today.
Where can I ask technical questions during the hackathon?
On the bottom of this page, navigate to the Technical Questions forum. Please note, this forum will become available only during hackathons.
Can I submit a project individually or do I need to join a team?
You may submit a project as a solo founder.
Even though the hackathon is online, are there in-person events I can attend while working on my hackathon project?
Yes! Solana ecosystem teams around the world are hosting coworking spaces running concurrently with the hackathon. Stay tuned on this space to find out more!
How will projects be judged?
Project Submissions will be judged by a panel of judges determined in accordance with the following criteria:
- Functionality: How well does this Project Submission work? What is the quality of the code?
- Payments Applicability: How effectively does the solution address real-world payment challenges?
- Novelty: How unique is this Project Submission’s concept?
- UX: How well does this Project Submission utilize PYUSD’s performance and unique proposition to create great UX for downstream users?
- Open-source: Is this Project Submission open-source? How well does the Project Submission compose with other primitives in the Solana ecosystem?
- Business Plan: Is there a viable business that can be built in the future around this Submission?
